Managing Neuropathy
Editorial policy
Who writes this, who reviews it, what our labels mean, and what we do when we get something wrong.
Who is behind this site
Managing Neuropathy is written and reviewed under the direction of Dr. Tom Biernacki, DPM, FACFAS, a double board-certified podiatric surgeon practicing in Michigan. Neuropathy of the feet and lower legs is the area where a podiatrist’s daily clinical work is most directly relevant, and that is where this site concentrates.
Neuropathy has causes and consequences that reach well beyond the foot. Where a topic belongs to another specialty — neurology, endocrinology, oncology, pain medicine — we say so and point readers toward the clinician who should actually be answering it.
What “medically reviewed” means here
We apply that label only after a clinician has actually read the page for clinical accuracy, and we publish the date that review happened. A page without a review date has not been through that step. We would rather show you an honest gap than a badge that means nothing.
How we handle uncertainty
Much of what patients most want to know about neuropathy — whether it can be reversed, whether a given supplement helps, whether a device works — is genuinely unsettled. Where the evidence is strong we say so. Where it is weak, mixed, or absent, we say that instead of manufacturing confidence. A guide that hides uncertainty is not being kind to the reader; it is transferring risk onto them.
We do not publish claims that neuropathy can be cured or reversed by a product sold through this site. If you encounter that claim anywhere online, treat it as a reason for scepticism rather than hope.
Sources
Clinical statements are grounded in peer-reviewed literature, professional society guidance, and government health sources. We cite what we rely on so you can check it. We do not cite a source we have not read, and we do not cite a retailer as evidence for a health claim.
Commercial relationships
This site earns affiliate commission on some product links, described in full in our affiliate disclosure. Commercial relationships do not determine clinical content. No company reviews our pages before publication or has any right to.
Michigan patients
Dr. Biernacki practices at Balance Foot & Ankle in Michigan, and this site links to that practice. Those links are clearly marked. The educational content is written for a national audience and is not shaped by whether a reader is close enough to become a patient.
Review and updates
Pages carry the date they were last reviewed. Clinical guidance changes and product availability changes faster; we re-check pages on a schedule and update the date only when the page has genuinely been re-examined.
Corrections
If we publish something inaccurate, we fix it and note what changed. If you spot an error, tell us — a reader who catches a mistake is doing the site a service, and we would rather hear it than not.
